Private Pet Friendly Cottage with a Spectacular view of beautiful year round water! Full length windows span the entire length of the main level. It’s located on a wide section of Brushy Creek with 232 ft of water frontage. It has a covered front porch and uncovered deck with walkway to boat slips and swim pier and one jet ski dock. Only one boat slip available. We have our boat docked in one slip. We also have three kayaks that you can use but life jackets will be required. Plenty of outside chairs, gas grill and fire pit and wrought iron table and chairs with lounge chair. If you don’t want to walk up and down steep steps then this is the cabin for you. You Only need to walk out the door onto the covered front porch and take 7 steps to the uncovered deck and you will be on the walk over bridge to the double boat slips and swim pier where you can enjoy fishing or swimming, reading or relaxing in the sun! We have plenty of parking at top of the driveway on the left side. After you turn onto our driveway you will pass a house on the right that is not us. We share a driveway with them. Please don’t stop there! Our cottage will be at the end of the driveway to the left. The yellow cottage. The driveway is steep! You will need front wheel drive or truck to park at the bottom of the hill. No trailers at the bottom of the hill. Park at top on the left please. The cottage has 3 bedroom and 1 1/2 baths. The main level offers: 1-bedroom/main level with Queen bed and half bath/with washer and dryer. Den/main level has vaulted ceilings with a fireplace and large flat screen TV with dish network service and blue ray and one comfortable couch with two recliners and two separate recliners. It has full length windows across the length of the downstairs/main level with amazing views of year-round beautiful water. Dining room/main level with table and four chairs and kitchen bar with 4 stools. Plenty of seating outside too. Kitchen/main level has refrigerator, dishwasher, electric stove/oven,microwave/venter-hood, coffeemaker, blender,mixer,crock pot and plenty of dishes and pots and pans. Everything you need to cook and eat with. You are also welcome to use any coffee,filters, and any condiments and spices that I have available. I usually try to keep that in the side refrigerator for my guest to use. I will have 1-roll of paper towels and 4-rolls of toilet paper and 2-garbage bags and dishwasher detergent and soap and towels for your use. The Upstairs offers: 2 bedrooms and 1 full bath. The master upstairs bedroom has a large flat screen TV with dish network and Queen size bed with a new mattress. The 2nd upstairs bedroom has a new bunk bed with full size on bottom and twin on top. with twin air mattress in master bedroom closet. TV with blue ray only. No dish satellite connected in bunkbed room. The front porch has several chairs and gas grill with gas. Fire pit with firewood. C/H/A! Deck with table and 4 chairs and lounge chair. We also have three kayaks. We have a Lily pad! 2 lounge recliners on swim pier. We have double boat dock. Only one dock is available to use. It doesn’t have a lift so bring boat buoys. It can be rough on weekends. One jet pad. Swim pier. Be careful the bank is steep and rocky and when wet can be slippery. Children should wear life jackets since it is right on the water. This cabin isn’t handicap approved or accessible. It has steps and bathtub doesn’t have safety rail. And steep bank with rocks and steep driveway. When wet it can be slippery. Right on water. Don’t use upstairs door except for emergency! It is bolted. The steps are to steep to use! Stay off the steps to the side upstairs door. Steep and no rail. For emergency use only!!!! It’s a Great place to read, relax,fish, swim or boat ride. Stripe bass guides offer a chance to catch BIG FISH! My husband caught 35 lb one. I have included a photo of it. Their are Several Boat Marinas close by with some that offer boat rentals and restaurants /entertainment. Duncan Bridge Marina is the closest. It is about 15 mins away. LakeShore Marina/restaurant/bar /Motel is about 25 minutes. The unique town of Arley is only 5 minutes away with a Grocery store and restaurants and shops. Smith Lake offers deep and clean water with about 500 miles of lakeshore. Curry, Ala is about 10 miles away. Jasper is about 25 miles. Double Springs is about 10 Miles. Crane Hill is about 35 Miles. Bankhead National Forrest is close by with several walking trails. Pet Friendly! One Dog only! Pets must be preapproved with photo. No pets on furniture. The house is conveniently located at 2323 CR 870 less than 30 minutes west of I65, Exit 305. Centrally located on the the mid eastern part of Lake Smith in the Sulfur Springs area of Crane Hill. The Island Retreat is a great place for families to gather for vacation and recreation. The spacious upper deck and lower patio offers a beautiful view of the lake and island! Bedroom 1 (MBR): Queen bed with private bath. Bedroom 2: Queen and twin bed with semi-private bath. Bedroom 3: Queen and twin bed. Bedroom 4: Queen and twin bed. On the main level is the MBR with a full bath, second bedroom, and bathroom. The main level bath has a large stand alone shower and is accessed either from living room or second bedroom. The main level deck is accessible from both bedrooms and the living room. The deck has a variety of seating as well as a covered patio table and propane grill. The upper level has two bedrooms and a full bath. In the lower level is the recreation area, a bedroom, and full bath. There is a DVD player connected to the TV and a variety of movies is available. A ping pong table and a variety of games is also found in the recreation area. Each bathroom is stocked with towels. However, guest will need to provide their own swim/beach towels. In addition to standard appliances, the kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee pots (12 cup drip and Keurig), electric griddle, and toaster.

During your stay If you need a break from lake life historic down town Cullman is 20 minutes away and offers many activities to enjoy from antique shopping, fine dining restaurants, a farmers market, brewery & casual dinning choices with live entertainment. The property is very peaceful due to the fact it has two empty wooded lots on either side of the house providing a 400ft buffer between the closest neighbors in any direction. Throughout the year the homeowners may be in residence & have two standard poodles Lily & Beaux. If you have any needs they can be reached by a call or text. Please note the property is in a very rural area you and you will see and hear many different kind of birds, cows, chickens, goats. You will drive on twisting, winding, hilly country roads. Walk a natural path to & from the shoreline. The WiFi & cell service is iffy in the Smith Lake area. ATT provides the best cell service in the area. Your gps will cut out while you are out on the boat or driving by car. Tip: It’s a good idea to print off direction to the property for when your out on the lake in case your cell phones gps goes out. The lake has 500 miles of shore line & its easy to get lost. When driving your vehicle to the property consider printing off your directions from interstate 65 to the property due to the fact your gps will be spotty & it will drive you past the property’s mailbox & home. You wouldn’t know you missed the property until it doesn’t get you to Crooked Creek Retreat. It’s imperative to know that Lewis Smith Lakes water level changes seasonally & can be tracked on a smith lake app. When booking any rental on this lake it’s important to note Smith Lake has three different kinds of water front property descriptions. Deep water, year round water & seasonable water. Each offers different experiences with different perks. Traditionally Crooked Creek Retreat dock is floating March through August. You can swim, float, boat, fish, jet ski from the dock during this time. The water around the shoreline and dock are very calm & safe for swimming, floating, paddle boarding & kayaking. Guest are welcome to tie up their boat & jet skis on the east side of the dock. Owners keep their ski boat on the lift. They use the west side of the dock for their fishing boat & jet ski. Beach chairs are perfect to sit at the shoreline to watch little ones play in the shallow water. Arrow Head bar & grill is a kayak ride away. Order in or carry out breakfast lunch or dinner on the weekends. FYI: Seafood boils is great on the weekends! During the fall & winter months Crooked Creeks Retreat dock is not floating. During the fall/winter months weather permitting you can walk out to the channel & drop in the kayak, enjoy fishing & go for long walks along the shoreline. Some time between January-March Alabama Power will raise the lake level. During this time you might get not be able to walk out to the dock but you will be able to kayak out the dock. The closest public boat launch is a 5 minute boat ride away at Arrow Head Park Park. Smith Lake Park public boat launch is about twenty minute car ride away.

The western side of the lake's watershed is crowned by the 180,000-acre Bankhead National Forest, which blankets the deeply dissected southern edge of the Cumberland Plateau. Mermaid Cove is located a short 30 minute drive from I-65 and 3 miles by water from Smith Lake Dam in Spring Branch. All roads are paved to the property. The property is located in the back of the cove but just out in the main creek to provide the optimal location. During low water levels in the fall we have minimum of 40 feet of water under our boat house. Very low boat traffic provides a calm day on the water even at peak seasons. The covered boathouse has one 9’ X 20’ boat slip. Two covered PWC dry docks are connected to the boat house. The 16‘ X 28’ swim deck has all day sun for the “sun worshipers” but plenty of shade when needed. Lounge chairs, paddle-boat, kayaks, Stand up Paddle Board, water floats, swim noodles, Splash Island 18' x 6' and deck umbrella will be available for your use. Most life jacket sizes are available in the boathouse shed. Check with us if you need life jackets to make sure we have the correct sizes you need. Electrical Safety awareness has been raised in the last couple of years on the lake due to electrical shock while swimming. Our boathouse has water and electricity running to it from the house. The electrical current is protected by a GFI breaker in case of a ground fault. This prevents the current from staying on if a shock occurs. This main line is also controlled from the main breaker box in the house and can be turned off if you prefer. This prevents accidents from occurring due to electrical shock. A charcoal grill and a gas grill is available for your use on the patio. We provide propane but not the charcoal. A wood fire pit is built into the patio and firewood is provided for campfires. Our property has a gentle slope to the water and we have graded the walkway and added steps to make it very easy to access the boat house. This is not handicapped accessible. Parking for vehicles and boat trailers is available on the property. We have a gravel drive through drive large enough to accommodate up to an F-2500 with a Sea Ray 260 with no problem. There is never a bad time to enjoy the lake with plenty of year round activities within 30-45 miles of the house. Year round golf, guided fishing trips on the lake as well as fly fishing below the dam for trout, arts and crafts, bird watching, kayaking and boating. Seasonal activities include art/music festivals, water sports, hunting and fishing. The neighborhood has shaded paved roads that are excellent for walking or jogging with low traffic.
